Sel Sci filters are the very best filters available. There are a lot of whole house filter systems out there. Most don't remove chloramines at all. Some claim to, but how do you know? What is Chloramine and WHAT is it doing in my water?
Houston area MUD districts have been required to send the following warning to consumers of their water:
“Kidney dialysis patients, aquarium/pond owners and certain businesses or industries that use water in their treatment process will need to remove chloramines prior to use.”
The reason for this notice is that surface water is treated with chloramine instead of chlorine. More on this can be found in the FAQ's
Houston City Water is already chloraminated. If you are inside Houston City Limits, this filter is for you. If you don't have kidney problems or have fish as pets, it might be easy to dismiss this notice as alarmist. However, I urge you to see the research on what chloramine does to average people, pets, and your plumbing www.chloramine.org. This site allows you to make an informed decision about the effects of chloramine. I have also found a solution that is affordable and most importantly... it works.

Sediment Pre-Filter exhibit: Houston water has lots of sediment in it. The Pre-sediment filter removes this yuck factor from your water plus lengthens the life of the chloramine filter. This is basically dirt that would clog the chloramine filter up.
